Job summary

The City of Columbia is seeking a Maintenance Technician Trainee/Technician to operate, repair and maintain water-related assets at remote sites such as water tanks, pump stations and PRVs. The role includes the Apprenticeship Program (AP) enrollment and required benchmarks and training.

Position involves physically demanding tasks and compliance with safety standards. Training may include on-call and shift duties, with potential for advancement through Technician levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
• Assists with construction and installation projects as assigned.
• Prepares and maintains accurate work records.
• Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
• Attends meetings and training to enhance job knowledge and skills.
• Is considered essential staff during emergencies and may be required to work long hours or days at a time.
• May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• Must be able to be on call 24-hours per day and on-call is rotated among personnel.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
