Job summary

The Town of Little Elm is seeking a dedicated Water Meter Technician to perform installation, reading, maintenance, and replacement of water meters and related equipment within the Public Works Department. You will support the monthly billing cycle by ensuring accurate readings and data updates in the Financial Management System, and you will assist with re-reads and service requests.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to obtain

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; six months experience or equivalent.
Ability to obtain grade “D” water certification within 12 months.
Work Zone Safety Certification within 12 months.
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Strong organizational and time management skills; able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Install, replace, and upgrade water meters and related components.
Perform routine and special water meter readings using manual and AMR/AMI systems.
Operate and troubleshoot meter reading systems and software platforms.
Document all meter-related activities; update customer accounts in the Financial Management System.
Coordinate with vendors and Town systems for data integration and service issues.
Handle monthly billing tasks, re-reads, disconnections, and restorations on schedule.
Respond to customer inquiries professionally and maintain records.
