Job summary

The City of Santa Cruz Water Department is seeking an Associate Professional Engineer to support planning, design and construction of critical water infrastructure projects, including ASR systems and large pipeline replacements. You will work across phases from concept through construction with engineers, contractors and technical staff.

The role requires a California PE registration or progress toward licensure, and may involve supervision of professional and technical staff within the Water

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Three years of professional civil engineering experience.
Registration as a Civil Engineer in California and PE licensure or enrollment to obtain within 18 months.

Responsibilities

Acts as design team leader for major engineering projects and tracks progress.
Designs and conducts engineering studies and prepares drawings and models.
Prepares cost estimates and feasibility reports for new or modified programs.
Supervises staff and coordinates with engineers, contractors and consultants.
Prepares grant and permit applications and administers contracts.
Oversees project design and development with outside consultants; reviews private development plans.
