Job summary

MacKay in Chicago, IL is seeking an Engineering Construction Project Manager – Water Facilities to lead multi-year CIP projects for the Chicago Department of Water Management. The role oversees construction of water infrastructure, purification plants, pumps, and tunnels, with a design-bid-build approach.

Candidates should have a civil/structural/mechanical engineering degree, 6+ years of relevant experience, and an Illinois PE license or ability to obtain it within six months; PMP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Professional Engineering license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Experience with municipal water/wastewater projects and CIP programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Construction Manager supporting DWM with CIP program delivery.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for water facilities construction.
• Oversee multidisciplinary improvements (electrical, mechanical, structural, processes).
• Coordinate with Resident Engineer and on‑call firms; ensure contract compliance.
• Communicate progress to client and resolve scope changes with the design team.
