Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The Summer Intern will work with design teams, learn engineering standards, and gain hands-on experience across diverse projects while developing professional skills.

Locations include Kansas City, Creve Coeur, Des Moines, Oklahoma City, and Fort Worth, with relocation offered. This internship provides exposure to real project work within a 100% employee-owned company that

Qualifications

• No experience required; must be currently enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical.
• Minimum GPA not specified in the job ad.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while gaining basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
