The Crossroads YMCA Hammond location seeks a Group Exercise Instructor I to lead safe, engaging group classes and support members of all fitness levels. The role emphasizes building community, helping members reach their wellness goals, and contributing to member retention.

You will work part-time, assist in program development, and ensure classes reflect inclusivity and safety standards while maintaining required certifications and participating in staff activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Complete Foundations of Group Exercise within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and manuals.
• Passion for learning, youth, families, and sports.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish YMCA goals.
• Builds authentic relationships with members; welcomes, connects, and motivates.
• Answers questions to support members' health and wellness goals.
• Celebrates member achievements and progress.
• Observes and adjusts to meet diverse capabilities and needs.
• Maintains knowledge of wellness trends to support members.
• Obtains and maintains required certifications and trainings; attends staff meetings.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records and supports retention.
• Assists in fundraising activities and special events as designated.
• Follows YMCA policies and responds to emergencies; performs other duties.
