Job summary

PBF Energy is seeking an Environmental Engineer - Water at the Martinez Refinery in California. This role focuses on wastewater treatment, stormwater, spill prevention, and the BWON programs, supporting air, water, and waste compliance and continuous EMS improvements.

Candidates should have a BS in engineering or related field, and industry/regulatory experience. The position involves on-site work, occasional after-hours duties, and collaboration with operations to meet regulatory and corporate

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, physical sciences, or related field.
• 2 years of federal, state, or local Bay Area environmental regulatory experience preferred.
• Industrial experience in refining or petrochemicals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance for environmental permits and regulations (NPDES, SPCC, SWPPP, OPA 90, APSA).
• Interpret regulatory language and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Lead inspections, audits, and incident response per ICS.
• Provide environmental guidance for non-routine activities and train staff.
• Manage Benzene Waste Operations program and permit renewals.
• Prepare discharge monitoring and other regulatory reports.
