Job summary

Ben Aris is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to provide technical support for ongoing environmental compliance and permitting projects within a refinery environment.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering or related Science and at least five years of environmental engineering experience in a refiner/petrochemical setting, with strong knowledge of environmental reporting and permitting requirements.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree or higher in Engineering or related Science required.
• 5 years experience of Environmental Engineering with refiner/petrochemical operator required.
• Experience in working with environmental compliance reporting and permitting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental compliance and permitting projects.
• Maintain knowledge of regulations and perform related reporting.
• Ensure timely completion of federal/state reporting obligations (SARA 313, Emission Inventories, NSPS, MACT, Annual Waste Summary, AQMD).
• Maintain records to demonstrate compliance.
• Assist with permitting tasks; local AQMD experience preferred.
• Communicate with Engineering and Operations to ensure compliance with permits.
• Participate in on-call duty rotation; refinery unit knowledge preferred.
• Ensure Spill/Upset/Emission Event reporting is satisfied.

Job description

The Senior Environmental Engineer will provide technical support and assistance for the on-going compliance with environmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides support as needed for environmental compliance and permitting projects.
• Maintains current knowledge of existing and proposed regulations and provides technical support to refinery on topics related to environmental compliance.
• Ensures federal, state or applicable government reporting obligations (e.g., SARA 313 reports; Emission Inventories; NSPS Reports; MACT Reports; Annual Waste Summary Reports, AQMD Regulation Reports) are completed in a timely and compliant manner.
• Maintains operational records necessary to demonstrate compliance with assigned environmental regulations/programs.
• Assists with permitting tasks as needed, local AQMD experience is preferred.
• Communicates effectively with Engineering and Operations personnel to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits is continually achieved.
• Participates in on-call duty rotation with the department, knowledge of refinery units preferred.
• Ensures assigned Spill/Upset/Emission Event/Reporting requirements are satisfied in accordance with all applicable regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
