Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection seeks a Scientist (Water Ecology) II to support Kingston, NY field operations, collecting samples from streams and facilities and reporting water quality data in line with DEP procedures.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree or relevant experience, can operate boats and trucks, and excel in field data collection and reporting for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in environmental/chemical engineering, limnology, environmental science, marine science, geology, biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, or health science.
• Bachelor's with 24 credits in relevant areas, at least 12 in those areas, plus one year of field experience in water quality/ sampling or environmental lab work.

Responsibilities

• Perform field sampling and analyses from a boat as required.
• Operate vehicles to tow boats or equipment as needed.
• Compile, review and report water quality data per divisional procedures and deadlines.
• Maintain field sampling equipment and logs for Quality Control data.
