Job summary

City of Frisco is seeking a maintenance-focused individual to support water distribution operations, valve isolation, and hydrant testing. This role emphasizes safety in confined spaces and accurate record keeping, with responsibilities spanning from field inspections to SCADA-assisted monitoring.

You will perform service work on water meters, sewer lines, and related infrastructure, while coordinating materials and tools for daily assignments and supporting other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in confined spaces and perform maintenance tasks safely.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and basic mechanical principles applicable to water facilities.
• Familiarity with SCADA and water system operation concepts.
• Ability to handle hazardous chemicals safely and follow procedures.
• Experience operating light equipment and hand tools for maintenance.
• Capability to plan, organize, and complete work orders efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and investigates as-built plans, GIS, and onsite evaluations for valve isolations.
• Maintains accurate records of valve isolations in the water distribution system.
• Operates hydrants to perform flow tests using specialized tools.
• Performs water distribution isolations, flushing, and blow offs on valves and hydrants.
• Maintains routine service on valves, hydrants, and main lines.
• Inspects hydrants and flushers for performance and cleanliness.
• Ensures proper maintenance of water system components.
• Performs maintenance, installation, repair, and connection of utility services and water meters.
• Organizes tools and supplies to complete assignments.
• Performs routine inspections for repairs or hazardous conditions.
• Performs chloramine and chlorine sample testing.
