Job summary

City of West Melbourne is seeking a Water Distribution Worker to maintain and repair the city's water distribution system and ensure a safe public water supply. Evening, weekend hours and occasional overtime may be required to restore water service.

The role involves replacing, cleaning, installing and repairing mains, service lines, hydrants, and valves; reading meters; responding to emergencies; and performing routine maintenance and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Progressive water distribution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the water distribution system including mains, service lines, hydrants and valves.
• Reads water meters, records readings, and handles connections/disconnections.
• Responds to water-related emergencies and participates in on-call rotation.
• Performs periodic flushing and inspection of hydrants and valves.
