Job summary

The City of Miramar is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Worker to support water transmission and distribution projects. You will assemble equipment, locate lines, perform routine and emergency maintenance, and repair water and sewer mains and service lines following safety standards.

You must have a high school diploma or GED, plus 2 years of utility construction/maintenance experience, and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and 2 years of Utility construction/maintenance experience.
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
Must obtain Florida Water Distribution Level 3 license within 2 years of employment.
Must obtain Florida Class B driver’s license within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

Assembles equipment, tools and materials for daily assignments.
Locates utility lines and valves accurately.
Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repair on water transmission and distribution systems, including mains and service lines; extending lines; leaks detection/repair; sewer line cleaning.
Installs grass sod; repairs concrete/asphalt; mends fences at job sites.
Maintains records of work in progress and completed items.
Responds to after-hours emergency calls if required.
Operates vehicles and heavy equipment (bobcat, backhoe, trucks, tractors, etc.).
Inspects and maintains assigned vehicles, equipment and tools.
Communicates with supervisor, co-workers, other departments, contractors and customers.
Follows policies, procedures, regulations, schedules and safety standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Physical demands include heavy lifting up to 100 pounds and other strenuous activities.
