Job summary

City of Mount Dora is seeking a Utility Maintenance Worker - Distribution to support water distribution and wastewater facilities in Mount Dora, FL. The role involves skilled maintenance, construction, and repair of city mains, hydrants, and meter systems.

You will work under supervision, performing tasks from blueprints or maps, operating equipment, and assisting in sewer and water line work. A Florida Driver's License is required, with a Class B CDL due within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices and equipment used in pipe fitting and skill in their use.
• Knowledge in the construction and repair of various utility facilities.
• Knowledge of the City water and sewer systems.
• Ability to read and write English
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Participates in laying and fitting of water mains, fire hydrants, making taps for service connections, setting meters, and construction of meter boxes.
• Repairs and maintains fire hydrants, mains, services, and other facilities.
• Assists in location of sewer laterals and mains as well as water mains and services.
• May operate light equipment and machines as needed.
• Helps with repairs at Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
