Job summary

Aqua America, Inc. in Shenango Division is seeking a Utility Technician to operate and maintain water distribution facilities and customer-ready service. You will handle valves, hydrants, service lines, and related appurtenances, with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver's license, and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months; occasional overtime and emergency callouts are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED at time of hire.
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License or be capable of acquiring one within six months from date of hire.
• Aqua may require applicant to pass reasonable tests—oral, written or practical to determine his/her qualifications.
• Must have a satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence within the last three years).
• Must meet the physical qualifications established for this position.
• Must hold a Class E Distribution License – issued by the Pennsylvania DEP or obtain one within 2 years as specified in the bargaining unit agreement.
• Must hold competent person certification or obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution system facilities, such as water mains, valves and hydrants.
• Operate and perform maintenance on all equipment and vehicles used in the maintenance of the water system.
• Use tablet/computer to receive and process work orders and email.
• Perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Be available for emergency work after regular hours and weekends and for scheduled overtime.
• Note and report unusual conditions in the distribution system.
