Job summary

The City of West Allis is seeking a Water Systems Manager to lead the water distribution system's installation, operation, and maintenance, ensuring safe, reliable potable water delivery. This role emphasizes collaboration across departments and community engagement, with accountability for regulatory compliance and system optimization.

Key duties include supervising field operations, SCADA/GIS integration, budget assistance, and developing standard operating procedures for water crews.

Qualifications

• Valid Wisconsin DNR Water Distribution Operator License.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Public Administration (or related field) with at least 4 years of public water distribution experience.
• Or high school diploma with at least 8 years of public water distribution experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operation, maintenance, construction and repair of the water distribution system.
• Plan and supervise all field operations, maintenance, laboratory analysis, and contractors.
• Oversee underground utility locating service.
• Maintain accurate facility, construction, and maintenance records.
• Coordinate with SCADA, GIS and asset management systems.
• Prepare reports and assist in budget development.
• Coordinate with Engineering Department on projects and cross-connection program.
