Job summary

HDR seeks an experienced Data Steward within the Water Business Group to define data standards and governance for Water disciplines. Embedded in the Water BG, this role focuses on enabling use of Water data across projects and services, aligning with enterprise data practices and AI use cases.

The position emphasizes collaboration with a broad data network, driving adoption of data practices, and influencing decision-makers while supporting effective project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.
• Minimum 10 years in Water engineering or water-sector data roles.
• Experience leading diverse data-centric teams and initiatives.
• Ability to collaborate with senior leaders, ops managers, and marketing managers.
• Committed to HDR values and employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Water BG to define technical standards.
• Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions for engineering terms and data models.
• Use your network to align data processes, priority, and use expectations.
• Promote consistent, responsible use of technical data, including access, quality, and reuse.
• Govern externally sourced datasets (access, approvals, inventory, storage, lifecycle).
• Promote data fluency across the Water BG and coordinate with the Technology Director.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards and tools.
• Communicate and collaborate with Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science, and Data Operations teams.
• Ensure new tools align to Water BG data strategy.
