Job summary

HDR is seeking a data steward leader embedded in the Water Business Group to define and enable Water data usage across disciplines. You will define standards, manage governance of datasets, and promote data fluency while coordinating with technology leadership to align workflows with Water BG strategy.

The role emphasizes enablement, collaboration, and delivering reliable data definitions to support AI, reporting, and automation in water projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, data science, business, computer science, or related discipline or equivalent related experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in the Water engineering industry.
• Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other leaders and managers.
• Commitment to quality, HDR values, and HDR’s employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Water Group to define technical standards.
• Develop and maintain business‑aligned data definitions for engineering terms to support data models and AI use cases.
• Build alignment and consensus around data processes, priority, and expected use.
• Promote responsible use of technical data, including access, quality, best practices, and reuse.
• Support governance of externally sourced datasets, including access, approvals, and lifecycle considerations.
• Promote data fluency across the Water Business Group and align data workflows with strategy.
• Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of data standards and tools.
• Communicate and collaborate with Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science Teams, and Data Operations staff.
