GridHawk LLC, the Premier Provider for Utility Services, is seeking a Utility Watch and Protect Technician. The role involves overseeing contractors digging on and around gas facilities, monitoring excavation to prevent damage to critical facilities, and auditing field technicians to ensure safety practices are followed.
Applicants must complete a background check and a DOT drug test as part of the hiring process. All employees receive the technology and vehicles needed for their duties.

Responsibilities
- Compare real-world conditions to record documentation to identify errors and omissions.
- Verify location of all client facilities within specified dig extents.
- Watch and protect client facilities within a given area as directed by the client.
- Understand contractor’s means and methods for subsurface installations.
- Monitor and provide surveillance of critical infrastructure where excavations are known to be taking place or will be soon.
- Contact excavators and schedule monitoring of critical excavation.
- Prevent damage to client facilities by monitoring excavations near critical infrastructure.
- Locate and mark underground facilities using industry tools, standards, and methods, including locating devices and utility maps.
- Perform ticket audits to ensure locators are accurately locating facilities and following proper marking procedures.
Qualifications
- One year of underground utility locating experience.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with citizens, contractors, and customers.
- Good organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of safe worksite practices.
- Experience with construction and installation of below-grade infrastructure.
- Experience working within and utilizing existing utility standard designs.
- Experience with complex urban underground utility infrastructure.
- Experience serving as a firm/client liaison.
- Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
- Experience using industry-standard locating equipment and basic maintenance.
- Experience using basic communication and tech devices.
Physical Requirements
- Move around on construction sites, public streets, and parkways.
- Lift up to 50–75 lbs.
- Stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periods.
- Operate computers and measurement, locating, and testing instruments with hand‑eye coordination.
- Work safely outside in all weather conditions year-round.
- Occasionally work in excavations and roadways.
- Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Tolerate moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
