Job summary

City of Dripping Springs is seeking a Utility Operator I to oversee the daily safe operation of the wastewater treatment plant, collection system, lift stations, and water distribution systems. The role requires maintaining precise records, performing routine testing, and responding quickly to emergencies while on-site as scheduled.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a TCEQ Class D wastewater operator license or the ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have or obtain TCEQ Class D wastewater operator license within six months.
• TCEQ Class C license preferred; must obtain after 3 years of employment.
• Must have math proficiency and ability to work with units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Operate daily safe operation of wastewater treatment plant, collection system, lift stations, and water distribution systems.
• Maintain records of samples, tests, and field data with accuracy.
• Perform routine process control testing and regulatory compliance testing.
• Perform maintenance on chemical feed equipment, pumps, motors, and valves; troubleshoot issues.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

TCEQ Class D wastewater operator license or ability to obtain within six months

TCEQ Class C wastewater operator license (preferred)

Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Ability to handle confidential information
