DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the overall operation of the WWTP, including 15 lift stations throughout Fort Indiantown Gap. You will operate and maintain equipment, read and record meter data, gather samples, and conduct laboratory analyses. You will also ensure compliance with f ederal and state environmental laws; the Clean Streams Law; and all operational, lab, and quality control standard operating procedures . This role requires the ability to resolve most operating problems independently while maintaining appropriate administrative records and controls as required. In addition, you will remove snow and debris, mow grass, and p erform landscaping relevant to the WWTP and pump stations throughout the wastewater system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating weekends and holidays. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as needed
- Essential Employee: You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant ; or
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than a Class B, Subclass E, 1 and 4 Certification.
- You must be in possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Formal training in wastewater management.
- Experience in the operation of a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
- Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of motors, pumps, compressors, valves, filters, and/or other related WWTP equipment.
- Experience in performing sampling/testing of plant influent or effluent for environmental protection.
