- DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will engage in both manual and skilled mechanical tasks related to the management and supervision of inmates while overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant within a state correctional facility. Your responsibilities will include directing inmates during your assigned shift in the maintenance and operation of the boiler plant, which may produce or receive steam, hot water, chilled water, or electricity. Key duties involve monitoring the systems of the boiler plant, making necessary adjustments for optimal performance, maintaining accurate records of fuel usage and production outputs, and suggesting procedural or equipment modifications to enhance efficiency. Additionally, you may operate auxiliary electric generating equipment for regular use or as a backup during emergencies. Throughout your shift, you will be accountable for the care and supervision of the assigned inmates, with your work being evaluated for adherence to safety protocols and operational guidelines by a technical or administrative supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
- Shift to be determined at time of hire
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. (Include this statement for all positions with a full salary range (basically all permanent full-time). OR Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986 (before taxes).

- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
