Job Summary

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the wastewater facilities. This role will assist in maintaining and improving plant performance, with a focus on serving the Brewery and Packaging departments. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic plant environment allowing you to utilize your skills in water treatment, industrial equipment operation, data analysis and maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observes equipment operation for proper functioning and to record readings, including devices for atmospheric gases
• Monitors entire treatment process including removal of foreign material, operating de-gritting equipment, and operating mechanical sludge handling equipment
• Maintain and repair equipment such as motors, pumps, and disinfection systems
• Conduct sampling and laboratory analysis for various parameters, along with other related tests
• Operates effluent odor control equipment and automatic samplers
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment
• Manage Inventory of parts, lab supplies, and consumable chemicals
• Coordinate and manage truck loading with sludge pump operations
• Knowledge of product and ingredient specs for disposal to not disrupt the operation
• Assist with Off gas flare maintenance
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to strong chemicals, odors, gases, and irritants with proper training and provided PPE

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Will consider combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• 1 year of experience in wastewater .
• 1-2 years of experience in maintenance required.
• Mechanical experience and strong troubleshooting skills with pumps, motors, boilers and tanks
• Ability to complete confined spaces training and pass respirator clearance exam
• Demonstrate motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring complex and rapid adjustments, such as valves, equipment controls, hoist, pumps, blowers, sampling equipment, common hand tools, gas meter, and protective equipment
• Familiar with reading a SCADA (or similar plant monitoring system) and determining plant adjustments
• Familiar with basic wastewater lab testing equipment and testing procedures
