The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively looking to hire a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator who will play a crucial role in the skilled operation and maintenance of two sewage treatment facilities. This position encompasses overseeing the wastewater operations at the Park's Visitor Center, as well as managing the water treatment facility located at the campground. The operator will be responsible for ensuring the functionality of all associated equipment, which includes pump stations, sewage and water lines, manholes, and other essential infrastructure. In this position, you will collaborate closely with a salaried operator to ensure the efficient functioning of the park's sewage treatment facilities. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the operation, maintenance, evaluation, and repair of various equipment such as electric motors, pumps, compressors, valves, sand filters, chlorinators, aerators, water softeners, flow meters, and liquid level mercury switches that are integral to the sewage treatment process. You will also play a key role in collecting water samples and conducting chemical tests to assess parameters like pH levels, chlorine residuals, settleable solids in both influent and effluent, as well as the biochemical oxygen demand of the sewage effluent. Additionally, you will serve as a lead worker for less experienced staff assigned to the treatment plants, providing guidance and support as needed. Your duties will extend to assisting the salaried operator in preparing comprehensive reports on the sewer and water systems, monitoring sewage flows, and tracking precipitation at the treatment facility. You will be responsible for reading meters, documenting findings in compliance with NPDES and WQM permits, and maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities performed on equipment. Adhering to safety protocols for confined space entries is crucial, and you will maintain accurate records of these entries. Furthermore, you will assist in inspecting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and executing minor repairs and adjustments to lift stations, well houses, water storage tanks, and other related apparatus. Your role will also involve operating chlorinators, comminutors, aerators, motors, pumps, valves, filters, and other essential equipment, as well as conducting inspections and maintenance on chlorinators. Plumbing repairs will be necessary to ensure a leak-free system, which includes addressing issues with waterlines, sewer lines, comfort stations, and plumbing fixtures in park buildings. Lastly, you will be tasked with cleaning and maintaining the plant buildings, lift stations, well houses, and other associated structures to uphold operational standards.Work Schedule and Additional Information:
