Job summary

SolveNow Inc. in Walla Walla is seeking an Operator in Training to join a collaborative team responsible for operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, establish sample procedures, and help ensure uninterrupted service for our clients while solving challenges that arise.

You’ll diagnose process issues, adjust controls, prepare reports, collect samples, and perform lab testing. A strong safety mindset and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Basic experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Basic understanding of MS Office and data entry into a maintenance management system.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment processes to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and prepare plant operation sample procedures.
  • Diagnose operating problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Collect samples, perform laboratory testing, and determine chemical flow rates.
  • Maintain shift logs and compile reports; ensure safety and compliance.

Job description

As an Operator in Training, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. Based in Walla Walla, you’ll perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance, establishing and maintaining effective sample procedures of plant operations and effluent, and providing effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise. You’ll diagnose operating problems, make process control adjustments, and direct and perform necessary corrective action. You’ll also prepare reports, collect samples, perform laboratory testing, determine proper chemical flow rates, maintain shift logs, and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of you and your team.

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Basic experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Basic understanding of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to enter data into a maintenance management system
  • Valid driver’s license
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
  • Class B CDL - Commercial Driver’s License to aid in biosolid application
  • A current, or working towards obtaining a first-level water/wastewater treatment certification
  • Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors

The work areas may be indoors or outdoors and have loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
