Job summary

HKA Enterprises in Washington state is seeking an Operator-in-Training based in Walla Walla. You will join a collaborative team performing a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance and quality control testing.

You will contribute to the success of the program through efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that arise in municipal facilities. Pay: $20.00- $24.00 per hour DOE

Qualifications

• Experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data entry into a CMMS.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass Fitness for Duty test.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and work in varied environments with safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent.
• Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings.
• Collect samples and maintain shift logs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and conduct quality control testing.
• Take action to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of yourself and your team.
• Perform other duties as required.

Pay: $20.00- $24.00 per hour DOE

Responsibilities:

• Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
• Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings

Required:

• Basic experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants
• Basic understanding of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to enter data into a maintenance management system
• Valid driver's license
• Must pass Fitness for Duty testing to ensure physical and functional fitness for this safety-sensitive position
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, grasping, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
• Ability to work in varied environments (indoor/outdoor, loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights/depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals), using appropriate safety equipment

Preferred:

• Current, or working toward obtaining, a first-level water/wastewater treatment certification
• Basic familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors
