Job summary

The City’s wastewater treatment facility seeks a qualified supervisor to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. You will supervise plant personnel, oversee treatment processes, maintain records, and coordinate maintenance and emergency response activities.

Responsibilities include directing daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, reviewing data, performing process adjustments, and communicating with regulators and contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Louisiana driver's license.
• Must obtain Level 4 operator certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate plant employees.
• Direct daily operations and monitor processes and system performance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and permits.
• Review laboratory results, operating conditions, and process data and adjust as needed.
• Maintain operating logs, inspection and maintenance records, and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, aeration systems, and related equipment.
• Identify problems and coordinate repairs with maintenance or contractors.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of treatment chemicals.
• Oversee sludge handling, dewatering, and disposal processes.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and maintain a safe, orderly site.
• Investigate upsets, failures, spills, and permit violations and coordinate corrective action.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals, parts, and safety equipment.
• Prepare reports for operations and regulatory bodies.
• Communicate with regulators, contractors, and City management.
• Enforce safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Participate in emergency response, after-hours calls, and standby operations.
• Assist with capital projects and long-term planning.
