Job summary

City of Lancaster (PA) is seeking a technically skilled supervisor to oversee the operation of a municipal wastewater treatment plant and sludge facilities. You will plan, assign, and inspect work, ensure process control testing, and coordinate operator certification training to maintain compliance with PA regulations.

Five years of experience in wastewater operations and an Associate degree or equivalent in a related field are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Sanitary Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or environmentally related study preferred.
• Minimum of five years in wastewater treatment operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise wastewater operator technicians and sludge dewatering technicians.
• Inspect and plan activities across screening, grit facilities, clarifiers, aeration, pumping, chlorine tanks, and biosolids processing.
• Coordinate and track operator certification training and staff development.
• Review plant data and oversee process control testing per regulations.
• Ensure compliance with NPDES permits and safety requirements.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and manage CMMS work orders.
