Job summary

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking an experienced Water Pollution Control Utilities Plant Manager to lead the daily operations of our wastewater facility, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and top performance.

This senior role oversees wastewater treatment, remote lift stations, and related infrastructure, guiding a skilled team and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
• 5–7 years of wastewater or industrial plant management experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility.
• Lead reliability improvement initiatives and maintenance strategies.
• Review performance metrics and implement process improvements.
• Supervise assigned personnel and conduct evaluations.
• Plan and monitor budgets; manage purchasing specifications.
• Respond to inquiries and emergencies from users and stakeholders.
