Job summary

The City of Greenville (SC) is seeking a Public Works Operations professional to perform wastewater restoration, rehabilitation, and repair tasks. You will operate light and heavy equipment, install and repair pipes, and assist with on-call responses to emergencies, including after-hours and holiday periods.

Responsibilities include supporting inclement weather operations, safety compliance, and collaboration with other departments on projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Over one year of experience in public works, utility, or construction.
• Associate degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Certifications (Confined Space, Trenching & Shoring, Competent Person Safety, Traffic Control) within six months.
• FEMA ICS 100c, 700b, and 552 within three months.

Responsibilities

• Operate various trucks and equipment to repair wastewater pipes and manholes.
• Perform confined space entry and trenching/shoring operations.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and on-call duties.
• Support inclement weather operations and street/road maintenance.
• Ensure safety and report hazards; assist with special projects.
