Job summary

The Town of Medley is seeking a Lift Station Mechanic to perform maintenance on sewage pumping stations, inspect pumps, and manage grounds around facilities. The role requires hands-on work with pumps, generators, telemetry, and basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.

You will maintain log records, support weekend/emergency shifts, and collaborate with the Utilities and Stormwater team to ensure reliable operation of the Town’s lift stations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in sewer collection infrastructure or similar equipment operation.
• Wastewater Collections Level C preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance and inspection of pumping stations.
• Check pump alternation for automatic operation and level controls.
• Inspect and degrease float systems as needed; monitor telemetry.
• Inspect packing and perform preventive maintenance to minimize leaks.
• Ensure sump pumps operate correctly and troubleshoot pumps.
• Maintain pump rooms, dry/wet wells, and grounds; manage odor control.
• Record inspections in logs with date, time, and activities.
• Operate and maintain related equipment such as weed-eaters and mowers.
• Read meters and instrument readings; follow safety procedures.
