Job summary

Reed Talent Solutions, on behalf of United Utilities, is seeking a Process Operator for the Wastewater Treatment Works in Ingleton. The role focuses on operating and monitoring treatment assets, sampling, data recording, and ensuring regulatory compliance to protect the environment and communities.

The position offers a 6-month contract with potential to become permanent, with hours 07:00–15:00, Monday to Friday, and overtime options. PPE provided and training offered.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (A-C) including Maths, English and a Science/Technology subject.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and proactive attitude.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Wastewater Treatment assets to meet regulatory and customer service standards.
• Undertake sampling, readings, analysis, and cleaning activities (UWWTD, MCERTS).
• Record and report operational performance data accurately and on time.
• Identify poor performance and implement corrective actions within Health & Safety guidelines.
• Escalate performance or regulatory risks to the Process Controller.
• Complete scheduled operational and maintenance tasks, including reactive work orders.
• Maintain technical competence to support local performance improvements.
• Collaborate with Integrated Planning Teams and Field Service Engineers.
• Use corporate systems to record work orders and process data.
• Respond to asset failures and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and internal policies.
