Job summary

The City of Frederick is seeking a Pretreatment Technician to assist the Pretreatment Coordinator in monitoring and enforcing the Industrial Pretreatment and Fats, Oils and Grease programs. The role requires responding to emergencies within the DPW.

Responsibilities include inspections of industrial and commercial facilities, preparing inspection reports, data entry from laboratory and industrial reports, and performing sample collection and monitoring.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Vehicle Operator’s license with insurability.
• DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate required; obtain within 45 days if not possessed.
• Ability to obtain future licenses and certifications as regulations evolve.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local pretreatment regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections of industrial and commercial facilities for compliance.
• Prepare inspection reports and other required documentation.
• Enter data from industrial and laboratory reports.
• Perform sampling and monitoring under the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
• Maintain equipment and communicate effectively with officials, coworkers and the public.
• Cover Wastewater Operator IV duties for shifts or emergencies when directed.
