Job summary

King County Water and Land Resources Division -WA seeks a Utility Worker I at the South Treatment Plant in Renton. The role supports preventive maintenance, grounds care, HVAC cleaning, filter changes, safety checks, and fire-protection system support.

You will operate various equipment and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to maintain safe, efficient facilities for the community.

Qualifications

• Experience operating hand and power tools and large equipment.
• Experience with industrial steam cleaners and pressure washers.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use related software.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet with PPE.
• Ability to work with a diverse team and value differences.
• Effective communication and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with general preventative maintenance (gardening, cleaning, operating equipment).
• Operate equipment and vehicles (hand/power tools, landscape equipment, tractors, forklifts, cranes, portable pumps).
• Perform light maintenance (bulbs, safety equipment, HVAC filters, cleaning).
• Back-up for gardening, custodial, painting tasks as needed.
• Respond to unusual occurrences and emergencies.
• Maintain daily logs and work requests.
