Job summary

King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division is seeking a Utility Worker I at the South Treatment Plant in Renton, WA. You will perform preventative maintenance, operate a range of tools and equipment, and support safety and environmental goals while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to keep our facilities functional and welcoming for the community.

Qualifications

• Experience operating hand and power tools and pneumatic tools.
• Experience operating industrial steam cleaners and pressure washers.
• Basic knowledge of computers and related software.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet with PPE.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with general preventative maintenance such as gardening, cleaning, operating equipment, and supporting maintenance tasks at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related facilities.
• Operate equipment and vehicles including hand and power tools, landscape equipment, tractors, forklifts, cranes, vacuum trucks, portable pumps, and more.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, inspecting safety equipment, HVAC filters, hydrants, cleaning, and custodial duties.
• Back-up for gardening, custodial, painting, and other support assignments as needed.
• Respond to unusual occurrences and assist in emergency situations.
• Maintain daily logs and complete work requests.
