Job summary

Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, marine, sanitary, or chemical engineering and several years of wastewater/plant design experience; Hawaii driver's license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, marine, sanitary or chemical engineering or related field.
• Three years of wastewater treatment plant engineering experience or four years of engineering experience involving the design of wastewater treatment plants.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and evaluates process operations, process control equipment, and systems operations of wastewater treatment and pumping plant facilities.
• Conducts engineering and technical projects and studies for efficient and improved plant operation and control.
• Administers federal, state and County regulatory programs to ensure compliance to federal and state laws, and County ordinances.
• Initiates, recommends, and participates in establishing standards and policies relating to operating procedures and the inspection, testing, and maintenance of equipment in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Provides support to operations and maintenance groups for continuity and reliability of process operations functions, planning, and troubleshooting.
• Participates in formulating plant operating instructions.
• Prepares forms and compiles operating data, and makes plant performance reports requiring the application of engineering principles and practices.
• Participates in employee training programs.
• Participates in the development of the division's annual budget.
