Job summary

City of Grand Rapids seeks a Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Supervisor to lead our operations and maintenance teams, ensuring safe, reliable treatment for the Grand River community. You will oversee plant processes, coordinate emergency repairs, and support budgeting and system improvements.

The role requires six years of relevant experience and a Class B wastewater license or progression toward it, with shift coverage across 24/7 operations and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience in operations, maintenance, and/or repair work, including supervisory experience.
• State of Michigan EGLE Wastewater Treatment Operator Class B license (or Class C with plan to obtain Class B within 1 year)
• Ability to supervise multiple shifts and coordinate emergency response and budget-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs wastewater processes and maintenance teams; participates in hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Maintains safety practices, SOPs, preventive maintenance, and prioritizes corrective actions.
• Manages inventories, parts, chemicals, contracts, invoices and procurement systems.
