Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids seeks a dedicated Water Treatment Plant Operator to assure proper operation of a water treatment and pumping plant and the district-wide distribution system on an assigned shift.

You will monitor water quality, perform chemical and bacteriological tests, maintain records, and lead a team to ensure safe, reliable water delivery while adhering to Michigan EGLE guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) years of work experience related to water treatment.
• State of Michigan EGLE F-3 Complete Treatment certification required.
• Equivalent combinations of training, education, and experience may satisfy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis of treated water and monitor levels per EGLE guidelines.
• Operate water treatment, pumping, and distribution systems.
• Monitor water quality, adjust chemical feeds, and communicate changes to team.
• Maintain plant records, update log books, and generate work orders.
• Identify equipment issues and determine remedial actions.
• Monitor and adjust the distribution system and data logging.
• Oversee security access to filtration plant locations.
• Act as lead worker and assign tasks as needed.
