Job summary

City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking a Plant Operator or Trainee in Wastewater Treatment to protect public health and the environment. Prior experience is preferred but training will be provided.

Responsibilities include plant rounds, sampling, data logging, adjusting equipment to stay within permit limits, and supporting maintenance tasks. Texas Driver license required; ability to obtain a TCEQ Class D license within one year.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations, safety procedures, and permitting requirements.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory tests and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Tour the plant regularly to check pumps, engines, generators, chlorinators and filters, ensuring all equipment runs smoothly.
• Collect water samples, perform standard laboratory tests and accurately log daily data.
• Adjust motors, valves and chemical feeds to keep operations within permit limits.
• Assist with facility maintenance, repairs and groundskeeping.
