Job summary

City of St Joseph is seeking a maintenance worker to perform varied semi-skilled tasks at the Waste Water Treatment Plant, including building and grounds upkeep. You’ll work under supervision, operating treatment equipment and assisting lab staff with samples, while maintaining records and performing routine maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, some mechanical training, and a Michigan driver’s license. The city offers health, dental, life insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; original diploma with application.
• Experience with operation of a personnel computer.
• One year of full-time schooling beyond high school in a mechanical trade or related curriculum; Michigan Class D license preferred.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license; insurability per city standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate wastewater treatment and sludge processing equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance: oiling, lubrication, filter changes, bulb replacement.
• May serve as pumping station operator.
• Maintain records of work performed and assist with building and grounds maintenance.
• Assist labs with grab samples and routine samplers; help other classifications as needed.
