Job summary

City of St. Joseph is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance tasks at the Water Protection Facility and assist senior technicians. The role involves working with pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment, following safety rules and procedures.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read instructions and blueprints. No supervisory duties; some lifting and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment operating problems.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical fabrication.
• Ability to learn and understand mechanical equipment technical data specifications, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety practices regarding work.
• Skills in the operation of mowing equipment, along with hand/power tools, measuring and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists troubleshooting malfunctions on pumps, valves, mechanical and pneumatic assemblies.
• Assists with removal of electric motors.
• Assists with repairing pump-related sub-assemblies and related parts.
• Inspects parts using measuring tools and assesses dimensional changes.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Operates and adjusts pumps, seals, conveyors, and related assemblies as needed.
• Cuts, cleans, and maintains buildings and grounds; performs basic carpentry, masonry, plumbing tasks as necessary.
