Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 3 at McNeil Island to oversee the island's water system, well site, and equipment. The role requires a minimum Group 3 wastewater certification and a Water Distribution Manager 1 certification, with a 4x10 schedule from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Friday.

The operator will lead training for incarcerated individuals, perform routine chemical testing, and maintain compliance with RCW/WAC/DOH/DOE/EPA

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma and 2 years’ experience planning and supervising the work of others.
• Must hold Group 2 Wastewater Certification with ability to obtain Group 3 within 12 months of hire.
• Must obtain Water Distribution Manager 1 Certification within 12 months of hire.
• Must complete Correctional Worker Core training and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate Wastewater Treatment Plant and Well House and Distribution Network in accordance with DOE/DOH/EPA and DOC policies.
• Instruct and train incarcerated individuals in equipment maintenance and water system operations.
• Perform chemical testing and ensure compliance with federal/state requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
