Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) Correctional Industries is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 3 at McNeil Island to oversee the island’s water system, regulatory compliance, and related infrastructure. The role includes training incarcerated individuals and ensuring water quality meets DOH standards.

The position requires Group 3 wastewater certification, Water Distribution Manager 1, and the ability to obtain the 3 certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

High School Diploma.
Two years’ experience planning and supervising the work of others.
Group 3 wastewater cert with ability to obtain Group 3 within 12 months.
Water Distribution Manager 1 certification within 12 months of hire.
Complete Correctional Worker Core training for interaction with offenders.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Oversee operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the island’s water system.
Maintain the well house and water distribution infrastructure.
Lead training and instruction for incarcerated individuals.
Ensure chemical testing meets federal and state requirements.
