Job summary

County of Hawai‘i, Department of Environmental Management, Wastewater Division, seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II to operate and maintain Class I–IV plants and tributary pumping facilities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across multiple sites.

You will perform laboratory tests, record data, and adjust processes while adhering to regulations. A valid Hawai‘i Grade II certificate and a Class 3 driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Experience performing journey level duties of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II.
• Current Hawai‘i Grade II Certificate required at time of filing.
• Valid State of Hawai‘i driver’s license (Class 3) required at time of filing.
• A good driving record (traffic abstract) required; submit at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment and tributary pumping plants to comply with regulations.
• Read meters and record readings; interpret data to optimize plant operations.
• Perform laboratory tests and analyze results.
• Maintain station logs and prepare operational reports.
• Attend safety and training sessions and participate in maintenance activities.
