Job summary

Carson City Public Works is seeking a full-time, non-exempt wastewater plant operator. Under supervision, you will operate and maintain plant equipment, monitor processes, perform sampling, and help ensure continuous plant operation.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year journey-level experience in operation and maintenance; a valid Class C driver’s license; and willingness to work overtime and on-call as required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to High School education or GED and one year journey-level experience in operation and maintenance of mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Must possess a Valid Class C Driver's License and be able to pass pre-employment exam and respiratory fit test.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment operations and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operates pumps, valves, and other equipment to regulate wastewater flow.
• Maintains even flow and performs basic maintenance on plant equipment.
• Takes samples and records custody information for lab delivery.
• Keeps logs of plant operation and ensures compliance with discharge standards.
