Job summary

The Plant Operator (Wastewater) for City of Gardner manages the operation and maintenance of the city's wastewater plants, lift stations and related equipment to meet discharge permits and ensure reliable service.

A Class I Wastewater Operator certification is required, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months; high school diploma is required; weekend or shift work may be required and a valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold Kansas Class I Wastewater Plant Operator certification or be able to attain it within 12 months.
• Experience or coursework in wastewater treatment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate wastewater treatment plants, lift stations and related equipment.
• Collect and process samples to meet permit requirements.
• Maintain logs, readings and maintenance records.
• Read and follow O&M manuals and schematics.
