Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NC Wastewater Treatment Operator I certification required.
• Ability to obtain NC Wastewater Treatment Operator II certification within 18 months of promotion.
• Operator II certification required for Operator II position.
• Operator III certification required for Operator III position.
• Operator IV certification required for Operator IV position.

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular tours of the plant, equipment, and adjacent buildings.
• Monitors and records readings from gauges, meters, control panels, and other instruments.
• Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves, and other apparatuses to meet operating conditions.
• Pumps sludge, drains tanks, cleans clarifiers, and skims grease from settling tanks.
• Cleans and services pumps, motors, and other equipment.
• Makes minor or emergency repairs; performs minor preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Performs general plant maintenance and cleaning duties.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures in performing duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
