Job summary

Veolia in North America seeks a lead Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to plan, organize and supervise day-to-day operations under the Deputy Leader; manage maintenance, scheduling and safety. You will oversee plant and UV disinfection systems, coordinate SCADA-related issues with vendors, and ensure compliance with regulations while supporting budgeting and team development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Five years of experience in wastewater plant maintenance/operation.
• Understanding of UV disinfection (Trojan 4000/6000) and SCADA/OT systems.
• RI driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of wastewater regulations and safety policies.
• Ability to supervise, train and evaluate staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage operation, maintenance and repair of the city’s wastewater facility.
• Develop and implement division goals, work plans, reports, policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure regulatory compliance and safety.
• Monitor UV disinfection system operation.
• Coordinate plant response to emergencies.
• Oversee preventative maintenance program.
• Attend external meetings and networks to discuss solutions.
• Prepare monthly flow reports and correspondence for review.
• Enforce safety measures and ensure staff safety compliance.
• Plan and evaluate work of operational and maintenance teams.
• Assist in budgeting and procurement for operations.
