Job summary

The City of Oxnard's Wastewater Division is seeking skilled and motivated Senior Wastewater Operators. In this key leadership role, you will work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Collections, and Laboratory staff to help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the City's wastewater treatment facilities.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of treatment plant operation experience, including lead experience.
• Valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.
• Valid California Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate wastewater treatment plant operations during assigned shifts; adjust to maintain compliance and optimize efficiency.
• Make real-time process and flow changes based on plant data and trends; address and resolve operational issues.
• Provide work direction and on-the-job training to operators; reinforce safe work practices.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues; coordinate with maintenance for repairs.
• Collect samples and perform tests; record and verify results accurately.
• Maintain and review operational logs, shift reports and regulatory records for traceability.
• Conduct audits of logs and crew rounds; coordinate plant shutdowns and preventive maintenance.
• Enter and analyze data using CMMS and Hach WIMS; generate reports and process documentation.
• Support inventory monitoring and ensure materials, chemicals, and supplies are available.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
