Job summary

The City of Merced is seeking a skilled Electrical/Mechanical Technician to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment at the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. This role involves diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with operations staff to ensure continuous plant operation.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints and schematics, planning conduit installations, and leading repair work when needed, while adhering to NEC codes and safety

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical repair tools and equipment.
• Understanding maintenance requirements of wastewater plant and lift station equipment.
• Knowledge of NEC and safety practices and precautions.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment in the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations.
• Plan and install electrical conduit per NEC standards on projects.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and maintain motors, generators, switchgear, and control panels.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for equipment operations and maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
