Zekelman Industries is hiring a Wastewater Treatment Operator in Rochelle, IL. The role supports environmental compliance by operating wastewater systems, managing waste streams, and keeping precise records to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.

You will work with operations, maintenance, and external service providers while helping train staff and contribute to continuous improvement in waste reduction and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing, industrial, utilities, environmental, or wastewater treatment environment preferred.
• Class K Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (or ability to obtain).
• DOT Hazardous Materials Training (Three-Year Cycle) is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Calibrate and maintain pH instrumentation and treatment equipment.
• Perform wastewater sampling, laboratory testing, and process adjustments.
• Record water meter readings, pH readings, and operating parameters.
• Coordinate chemical deliveries and manage chemical storage areas.
• Maintain environmental records, logs, and inspection reports.
• Assist in environmental audits and with inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Train staff on environmental procedures and waste management practices.
